CANTRELL – Gold Roses (Freestyle) Artist Spotlight Vol. 54

Rarenorm: “Why did you make this song? What do you want to achieve in your music career? When did you start loving music and what are you creating next?”

A question asked on Facebook by someone in my hometown and it inspired me to reflect on a few of my accomplishments. Me signing to Nas’ Mass Appeal Records was some of the biggest news musically in my area since Field Mob signed their deal around the year 2000. It’s no secret to anyone in the south that I’ve inspired an area… so this is me reflecting on where I’ve been with a clear understanding of where I’m capable of going. Closing and opening chapters in a sense.

A connection is very important to me. If I’m not fulfilling my purpose here in the world then I’m wasting everyone’s time. I believe changing lives for as long as I can is my biggest goal, I just would love to be considered one of the greats while doing it. I’m an athlete at heart so yes, the awards and accolades are on the list… but as a child of the culture, I also understand the impact is what’s forever.

I’ve loved music for as long as I can remember! Rather I was in the living room reenacting the moonwalker and Michael Jackson music videos, or scavenging through my mama’s rap cd collection while she was at work, I’ve always loved music. It’s always been an escape and an outlet for me to indulge in. I’ll always be a fan first. Always.

Simply put, we’re just working on new music and creating new things. I’m a creative and have a number of outlets that in turn fuel my artistic tank musically, so just creating new things in general while keeping the main thing the main thing. We don’t want to stop putting out music, we want to grow this family of fans we’re building onto and give them things to live their lives to and with.
