Why did you make this song?
Deadlines (Wys) is a song for myself, about everyone else.
Wys is an acronym for “what you saying”? in the UK.
At the time I felt quite a few people were policing my life, wanting to know my plans but not really because they cared; it was more that they needed to confirm that they were doing better than me. The ones that did care didn’t think I was making the best choice pursuing a music career. As for myself I also questioned whether I was really making the right choice or was I going to be a flop.
What do you want to achieve in your music career?
I want to be able collaborate with amazing talents all over the globe, tour from country to country knowing what it’s like to perform in front of crowds of thousands of people who hold onto every lyric you sing. I want to be able to live off my music career and use it to fund initiatives that would help me give back to my community and help my family grow.
When did you start loving music and what are you creating next?
From a young age I’ve been in touch with rhythms and melodies. I grew up on a lot of pop and RnB music; these sounds taught me so much subconsciously on the structure of a song and how lyrics hit a beat. As I grew older and discovered the likes of Drake, J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$ and Chance the rapper my understanding of music evolved and I found a new love in Hip-Hop; particularly boom bap sounds.
I’m creating a couple more singles, more sounds for you on the way; we’ll see if I have that tape you were asking for on Deadlines (Wys) 😋 .
