Quavo on Lil Peep & “Big Bro” Lyrics Controversy

Quavo on Lil Peep &

Since last week’s release of Quavo‘s debut studio album Quavo Huncho, the lyrics of album cut “Big Bro” have led to a great deal of speculation about the meaning behind some of the song’s bars. Specifically, many online observers have taken to social media to voice their concerns about the connection between Lil Peep’s passing and some of the record’s lyrical content.

“Is you with me or against me? / I’m a OG now so you need me,” Quavo rapped. “Think you poppin’ Xanax bars, but it’s Fentanyl / (No-no bars, it’s Fentanyl) / Think you’re living life like rockstars but you’re dead now.”

Following the aforementioned track’s arrival, Lil Peep’s close collaborator and producer Smokeasac voiced his criticism of Quavo’s choice of words.

“It’s all love until you speak on my family especially my best friend who recently passed. I want an explanation until then it’s ,” Smokeasac shared via Twitter.

Now, Quavo has taken to Twitter to clear the air.

“Lil Peep Is A Legend A Real Rockstar,” Quavo tweeted on Monday. “N E V E R will speak on the deceased.””Lil Peep Is A Legend A Real Rockstar / N E V E R will speak on the deceased,” Quavo tweeted. “I believe in god I pray to GOD every day. I Dnt question GOD plans I lost my barber For 10 yrs to FENTANYL R.I.P. Show R.I.P XXX RIP TO ANYBODY WHO LOST THERE LIFE TO DRUG ABUSE!”

Smokeasac has yet to respond to Quavo’s statement.
