Smino provides up a soulful ode to Black women of all ages close to the entire world with “Anita,” a smooth Monte Booker-created track that could likely be on his upcoming album.

The hook for the song compares Black women of all ages to chocolate ice product and incorporates the phrase “Go diva,” which seems to be a reference to the well-known model of chocolate. It’s a laid-again track Smino claimed he developed to aid right what he sees as an underrepresentation of Black women of all ages through history.

“I went to see Concealed Figures and it is hella disappointing how there’s so quite a few black women of all ages in history that are not composed about so I needed to make anything to emphasize how raw a black girl is,” Smino explained in a press launch. “With Trump in office environment, now is these kinds of an crucial time to be self-confident about blackness. We need to have some congregational-ass new music that we can sing with each other.”

Last April, the Missouri rapper advised XXL that he needed to integrate genres other than hip-hop in his new music. “I say my sound is far more is far more futuristic funk, rap funk. If persons or if I would evaluate my sound to any art that has arrived out just before, I would say Dungeon Loved ones-esque,” he explained. “One of my ambitions is, I know its form of foolish, to get rid of payola, or just try to direct to make the radio distinctive. I sense like we make new music that could go mainstream but it is doesn’t essentially sound like mainstream.”

Smino’s forthcoming album is set to drop in the near foreseeable future, and if his venture seems anything at all like “Anita,” it will absolutely be dope.
