Train Does Led Zeppelin II: Blending the Old with the New

Getting to the Roots of Classic Rock with a Pop Rock Feel

Train is an American roots rock band from San Francisco, formed in 1993. They are best known for their hits “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)”, which won two Grammy awards in 2002, and “Hey Soul Sister”, which reached position number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in late 2009. They are well known for putting out catchy singalong pop rock songs that get stuck in everyone’s head for days on end. However, their newest project, Train Does Led Zeppelin II, is about to show a new side to their musical style.

Train Does Led Zeppelin II is Train’s first cover album. It covers Led Zeppelin’s second album Led Zeppelin II in its entirety on digital, compact disc, vinyl, and in concert. Led Zeppelin II was released in October 1969, over forty-five years ago. Because of its age, it may seem like it belongs in the archives, but think again. Train has put their signature pop rock spin on Led Zeppelin II, but it also has them getting to the root of classic rock music. It’s a wonderful blend of the old with the new. Train Does Led Zeppelin II brings an influential rock album back into the limelight for a new generation to enjoy.

The best thing about Train Does Led Zeppelin II is that all the profits from sales of the album will go to the San Francisco-based charity Family House. Family House serves as a home away for families of children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. The charity provides physical comfort and emotional support free from financial concerns. So not only is the band bringing classic rock back into the spotlight, but they’re also doing it for a good cause. Even purchasing one song will make a difference in the lives of the families who participate in Family House.

The first single from Train Does Led Zeppelin II is “Ramble On”, released on May 27th. Give it a listen below. If you like what you hear, keep an eye out for the full album, which will be released on June 3rd.
