Art 10 months ago Share Tweet Pin Share Hedi Slimane may be over Los Angeles. The sun-drenched California city that inspired his rock ‘n roll designs at Dior and Saint Laurent seems to have lost its grip on the 50-year-old designer; Slimane has quietly listed his Beverly Hills abode for sale, with an asking price of $17.5 million USD. Located in the exclusive Trousdale Estates neighborhood, Slimane acquired the house in 2009 for $4 million USD. Designed by famed architect Rex Lotery, the 4,700-square-foot home was extensively remodeled by Slimane over the years; though its mid-century facade is intact, the designer added in a shallow reflecting pool, expansive office/lounge area, a substantial dining area and a high-end kitchen fit for a professional chef. The five bedrooms and six bathrooms are surrounded by an almost-half acre of well-maintained foliage. This move was possibly hinted at earlier in the year; as WWD noted, Slimane voiced a changed opinion about LA. In 2008, “I would start all my Dior collections there, in my hotel room,” Slimane told French newspaper Le Figaro. “The city was still asleep, so it was the perfect time to fill in a blank page. … Los Angeles is an open-air construction site and its mythical places are disappearing day by day.” CELINE has facilities in LA, though Slimane has reportedly spent much of the year working in the house’s prototype studio and atelier in Paris. Recently, CELINE premiered its Slimane-shot Summer 2019 campaign video. Bonus: Want to stay up to date on our latest Rare Norm news ?
