Javier Calleja Creates Shameless Pop Artworks for New Spain Exhibit

Javier Calleja, the Spanish artist who apprenticed under the tutelage of Yoshitomo Nara, is set to launch a new exhibition at the Yusto/Giner gallery in Malaga, Spain. Entitled “I hope you don’t mind,” the forthcoming showcase will feature over a dozen new works that depict Calleja’s bright-eyed cartoon characters that draw influences from Pop, Surrealism, and Minimalism. As per usual, the subjects boast hard-hearted phrases across their two-dimensional bodies such as “Don’t Take It All To Heart” and “Fuck You All” that reflect the artist’s “everyday reality” said the gallery in a statement.

Preview select works above and expect “I hope you don’t mind” to launch to the public on June 8. For more information, head over to Yusto/Giner’s official website. In related news, BEYOND THE STREETS and Modernica teamed up on a special capsule of Case Study fiberglass chairs.
