1962 Ferrari 250 GTO Sells For $48 Million USD

RM Sotheby’s recently showcased the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO chassis number 3413 and it was estimated to bring in $45 million USD for its sale. Now the car has been sold and it’s beaten that estimate, with the final bid coming in at $48.2 million USD in total. The car is one of 36 ever made and was originally used as a test machine for American racer Phil Hill before being used at the Italian National GT by Edoardo Lualdi-Gabardi. The car was eventually owned by Gianni Bulgari from the namesake house, who sold it in 2000 for $7 million USD. Listed by RM Sotheby’s, the original $45 million USD would still have made the car the most valuable ever to be sold at auction. In related news, this 1966 Ferrari Dino Prototype is available for a relatively reasonable price of $3 million USD.
