Man Makes A 600HP Supercar Out Of Wood Called The Splinter

This one-off supercar was designed as a showpiece with a team headed by Joe Harmon, an industrial designer from North Carolina. The bodywork ran on the combination of laminated and bent wood veneers including woven cherry skins and tessellated end-grain balsa core. The chassis is a laminated veneer monocoque fitted with unequal-length upper and lower laminated wood Arms with height-adjustable airbag springs and shocks that are adjustable. The engine is aluminium 7.0 litre V8 unit packing 600hp. It uses a 6-speed manual gearbox, even though the operation will likely never be quantified.
