Porsche Classic Project Gold Selling Price

Porsche Classic’s fully-restored 1998 911 Turbo “Project Gold” 993 has just gone under the hammer for a little over $3 million USD — €2,743,500 EUR ($3,125,532 USD), to be exact. As part of RM Sotheby’s The Porsche 70th Anniversary Auction 2018, Porsche spent nearly one-and-a-half working on this one-of-one version of its iconic sports car, and have gone on record to say that there will never be another one like it. Having already been 20 years since the last air-cooled 911 rolled out from production, Porsche had to locate the original new-old-stock body from its factory in Zuffenhausen. Along with the body and frame, an additional 52,000 genuine classic Porsche parts were sourced to complete the extremely rare example. In terms of power, the engineers behind this project added 42 more horsepower than the standard 993 Turbo via its “Werksleistungssteigerung II” (WLS II) power kit, giving the “Project Gold” a total horsepower of 450hp at 6,000 rpm. The best part about the sale of this beautiful car is that the net proceeds of €2,589,000 EUR (approximately $2,949,518 USD) will go towards the non-profit Ferry Porsche Foundation.
