Ben Baller and IF & CO. have just unveiled its latest piece of drip for reggaeton superstar J Balvin. The insane piece sees many firsts and is, in fact, an official collaboration between the jewelers and artist Takashi Murakami. Some may recall J Balvin’s earlier spinning piece of Murakami’s smiling rainbow flower, and how Murakami commented that he was interested in owning one.
Stemming from that first interaction between the artists, this new pedant-chain combo sees a 300-gram 18k white gold pendant body that’s matched with a 400-gram brushed and polished 18k white gold snake-cut Cuban link chain. Each piece has over 5,000 stones (both gemstones and VVS1 E/F color diamonds) and totals approximately 42 carats; the chain’s clasp opts for detailed enameling surrounded by white diamonds while the bail is flooded with baguette-cut diamonds.
There were two examples of the Takashi Murakami x IF & CO. chain made; one has been commissioned by J Balvin while the other carries Takashi Murakami’s artist proof, and will remain with him for archival purposes. The total estimated price per each piece made is $560,000 USD.
