Daniel W. Fletcher Fall/Winter 2019 Backstage

Collaborations are a firm part of the landscape today, but Daniel W. Fletcher’s latest one for his FW19 show at LFW:M still caught the eye. Rather than team up with a sportswear brand for a hastily made pair of sneakers, he joined forces with legendary photojournalist John Bulmer.

Bulmer’s images of the North of England in the 1960’s were a groundbreaking work, both for capturing a lesser seen side of English life as well as being a pioneer in color photography. Fletcher used the imagery in a subtle manner, splicing a placard held by one of Bulmer’s subjects into a suitably gloomy print on a dress short, as opposed to simply slapping a print onto a t-shirt — as most would do.

It was a level we’ve come to expect from the designer, who blends esoteric influences with beautiful clothing that comes from a place of wanting to be worn in everyday situations. Daniel W. Fletcher is a designer that’s going from strength to strength and we’re excited to see where he takes us next.
