The famous Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani in a recent statement has declared the Armani Group will be fur-free after many years of continued pressure from animal rights activists. Armani has stated that the decision was brought about by his luxury group acknowledging important issues which involve the protection and well-being of animals and the environment as well as mentioning how newer technologies use cruel and unnecessary practices in regards to animals.
For the 2016 autumn/winter collection, the Armani house which includes labels such as Emporio Armani, Giorgio Armani, Armani Casa and AJ Armani Jeans, will be fur free.
Armani has garnered support of this decision from chairman of the Fur-Free alliance, John Vinding, as well as The Humane Society International (HSI) calling his pledge a “powerful message”.
Armani is now among fellow designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss, and Stella McCartney who are against the use of animal fur.
