Shoes a few months ago Share Tweet Pin Share After a first look at the collaboration arrived last week, Nike and London-based label A-COLD-WALL* have now given an official look at their latest joint project. The footwear element of the capsule is a radical take on the Zoom Vomero +5 silhouette that first released back in 2010. The Zoom Vomero +5 is stripped of its PU coatings in order to accelerate the aging process, meaning that the sneaker’s appearance will change over time. “I am interested in how a garment ages and taking a user on that journey,” explains A-COLD-WALL*’s Samuel Ross, “that is something I believe should be encouraged. It’s much more human. It’s much more dynamic as well.” Bonus: Want to stay up to date on our latest Rare Norm news ? Discussing the collaboration, Ross explained this approach to the collection. “With the Vomero, there has been this opportunity to really exalt the technology of its time and modernize the aesthetic, which is uncompromised to its purpose and function. It’s interesting to look at a shoe which has such a beautiful and polished wire frame, and then to be able to isolate individual aspects of that shoe, to really exalt the technology. It is very exciting to take something that is very beautiful and to not necessarily reinterpret but to reevaluate the product.” This approach is also used on an apparel collection that will release alongside the two Zoom Vomero +5 colorways. This includes a Parka in Japanese nylon that begins as a course texture and softens over time, as well as an industrial-inspired cropped pant. The full capsule will release exclusively in London on November 17, before getting a worldwide release on November 29. In other A-COLD-WALL* news, take an up-close look at the Modular Puffa jacket.
