Best Sneaker Releases: September 2018 Week 4

Week after week the most popular and up-and-coming sneaker brands release new models, collaborations and retros in order to stir sneaker culture’s melting pot. The competition has risen over the years with the introduction of new technology and the use of influencers over time, thus presenting an even larger variety of selections for sneakerheads and casual shoppers alike.

Balenciaga TRACK Trainers

Release Date: September 24

Balenciaga‘s newest TRACK Trainer is finally seeing an official drop. Its multilayered design follows the sock-like Speed Trainer and bulky Triple-S models with a mix of hiking and running inspiration. Offered in five colorway choices, Balenciaga’s “BB” logo is incorporated onto the rubber toecap with additional branding added just above the midsole on each lateral side. Its sizing stamp returns to the top of the toebox while the heel reads “Track” as a callout to the name of the sneaker.

Pharrell x adidas Solar Hu Glide

Release Date: September 25
Release Price:  $150 USD/each, available via select adidas retailers and adidas.com

Pharrell’s collaborative selection alongside adidas expands with the Solar Glide Hu. The BOOST-ready sneaker sees a knitted upper with large Hu branding in the middle of its toebox. Its sock-like ankle entry and heel counter receive design cues from the famed UltraBOOST and will be made available in a trio of color choices. Additional branding is shared via its trefoil logo on the tongue and smaller Hu insignia on the ankle-entry’s lateral side.

Air Jordan 5 “Fresh Prince”

Release Date: September 25
Release Price:  $190 USD, available via select Jordan Brand retailers and Nike SNKRS

The newest Air Jordan 5 release pays homage to The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Channeling Will Smith‘s style, this Air Jordan 5 takes on a laceless look. The lace entries have been completely shut while the rest of its design and color scheme remain true to its original makeup. More details are present on its insole with Air Jordan written in the same font as the TV show and “West Philadelphia” subtly debossed on the tongue.

Nike Air Max 270 Bowfin

Release Date: September 26
Release Price:  $160 USD/each, available via select Nike Sportswear retailers and Nike SNKRS

The Swoosh’s relatively new Air Max unit is added onto the Air Max 270 Bowfin. Its non-traditional lacing system loops through patterned eyestays and is secured by a green toggle as its ankle entry sees a sock-like construction. The trail-ready model makes its debut in Photo Blue and Desert Cone color choices.

Air Jordan 7 Low

Release Date: September 27
Release Price:  $140 USD/each, available via select Jordan Brand retailers and Nike SNKRS

The popular Air Jordan 7 silhouette gets cut down and will be delivered in a trio of color choices: “Bordeaux,” “Taxi,” and “Concord.” Original design cues return such as its inner neoprene bootie, 23 branding on the heel and perforations along the upper. Depending on the color choice, you’ll find nubuck or leather material coating its nostalgic upper.

Nike React Element 55

Release Date: September 29
Release Price:  $130 USD/each, available via select Nike Sportswear retailers and Nike SNKRS

The successful Nike React Element 87 is being followed up by the React Element 55. This time around the Swoosh does without translucent uppers. Solar red, black/white, black/aurora and black/volt make up this week’s color selection with more expected in the future for this lifestyle runner. Nike’s new React foam returns to the sole unit as a complement to its lightweight upper.

‘Dragon Ball Z’ x adidas Originals “Frieza” & “Goku”

Release Date: September 29
Release Price:  $150-$170 USD, available at select adidas retailers and adidas.com

The Dragon Ball Z x adidas Originals collaboration kicks off with the Three Stripes’ Yung-1 and ZX 500 RM silhouettes. Each sneaker receives a makeover in honor of the legendary characters Frieza and Goku. The Yung-1 sees a mix of purple and white while the ZX 500 RM adds orange, blue and red along with a white BOOST midsole.
