In order to turn your home into the peaceful place you want it to be, getting rid of some of the clutter is a must. Here are four strategies to help you declutter your home. 1. Visualize How You Want Your Home to Look Has your home been cluttered for so long that it’s hard to imagine it any other way? If so, it’s time to dig into your mind and visualize a clutter-free environment that’s neat and organized. This may seem like odd advice, but if you can imagine what you want the end result of your decluttering to look like, it’ll give you a goal to work toward. Target Small Sections at a Time One of the reasons many people put off cleaning and organizing their homes is because it can feel very overwhelming to tackle your entire house at once. Start with emptying your fridge of expired food, getting rid of junk mail, and cleaning under your bathroom sink. Then move onto bigger spaces, like your living room or kitchen. As one of the first steps in this process, go through every room in your house and determine what’s causing the clutter. Create a Space for Your Belongings Aside from simply having too much stuff, clutter can also be the result of not having a designated place to put your belongings. If you have a tendency to just put items down in random places throughout your home, you’re probably dealing with lots of clutter strewn all over your house. One way to avoid this issue is to create an organizational system where each item has a set place. Use specific folders, drawers, and shelves to stay organized.
