Alec Baldwin to Play Batman's Father in 'Joker'

UPDATE: Alec Baldwin has taken to his Twitter to clarify that he is not playing Batman’s father in Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker, contrary to what The Hollywood Reporter reported earlier. It’s unclear exactly what exactly happened, but according to Baldwin’s Tweet, he was never hired to play the Donald Trump-like character in the first place.

Let me state, for the record, that I have NOT been hired to play a role in Todd Phillips’ JOKER as some Donald Trump manque.
That is not happening.

Alec Baldwin has been cast to play Batman‘s father in the upcoming stand-alone Joker film directed by Todd Phillips. Baldwin joins a star-studded cast that includes Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker, Robert De Niro as Murray Franklin, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron and more.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Baldwin’s character, Thomas Wayne, is characterized as a “cheesy and tanned businessman who is more in the mold of a 1980s Donald Trump.” If this description is accurate, Baldwin will be able to channel his impersonations of the real Trump on SNL.

Joker is slated to release in October 2019. Share your thoughts on the casting in the comments below.
