'Aquaman' Tops Box Office Earning Over $70 Million

Following up on its success overseas garnering over $350 million USD, Aquaman continued to make a big splash on its opening weekend in the U.S. The latest installment of the DCEU is on track to earn between $70-75 million USD, claiming the number one spot at the box office and beating out Transformers‘ spinoff Bumblebee, which is estimated to earn just $22 million USD–a new low for the franchise. Opening in over 4,000 theaters in North America, Aquaman is billed to hold the top position throughout the Christmas holiday.

Featuring Jason Momoa as titular character, the action movie also stars Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, Djimon Hounsou and Willem Dafoe. Catch the film in theaters now and watch the extended trailer above.
