It was confirmed earlier this week that Naomi Watts will lead the forthcoming ensemble cast, playing the role of a “charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.” The HBO show is scheduled to begin filing in 2018 after the final Game of Thrones season. Martin confirmed this information on his blog, stating that “Casting is now underway for THE LONG NIGHT, the first of the GAME OF THRONES successor series to ordered to film.” It further details that Jane Goldman scripted The Long Night pilot and that her and her team are “neck deep in casting” in London, teasing more cast member names to be announced soon.
