The official trailer for director Alfonso Cuarón‘s upcoming Netflix film Roma has just dropped, showcasing black-and-white visuals that tell the plot of the film without the assistance of dialogue.
Edited to Pink Floyd‘s “The Great Gig in the Sky,” the trailer showcases a 1970’s matriarch working for a middle-class family in Roma, Mexico to provide for her own children. Here we see the struggles of raising a family during political outcry from the city’s citizens. Cuarón has stated he drew inspiration from his own life to bring this film into fruition and serves as a semi-autobiographical tale dedicated to the women who raised him.
The film will have a limited premiere in Los Angeles, New York, and Mexico on November 21 — more cities such as Toronto and London November 29 will follow before reaching larger markets December 5.
Catch Roma on Netflix on December 14.
