The Rare Norm 3 weeks ago Share Tweet Pin Share There was like a 2 year time in my life where I couldn’t go out in public without people telling me I looked EXACTLY like Russell Brand. I had the hair, the beard, the attitude, the same fashion taste, piercings/tattoos… it was entirely unplanned, but I couldn’t blame them, I did look like the guy. I posed in countless pictures with girls who wanted to post to their social media saying “I mer Russell Brand” or “I met Russell Brand’s cousin” (if they were a tad wiser). I loved it. It happened often enough to soak in the (unwarranted) success, but not enough to bother me… But then I went to San Francisco, and OMG! I could have been the real Russell Brand for all these people knew, if only I had an English accent. I couldn’t go to a restaurant, to a bar, an Atheletics game – I couldn’t go anywhere without being “recognized”. So I decided to leave California, cut my hair off, and stop dressing like I was addicted to sexualizing 18 year olds. I never got mistaken for Russell Brand again.
