I like our company’s implementation of a flexible work schedule.
Generally I’m meant to be clocking in at 07:00 in the morning, and clocking out at 15:20 (7.5hr work day, with 20 minutes extra for earning up certain offdays) but it’s more a general guideline than a rule. As long as I put in the time, I can come like half an hour late and just work half an hour longer at the tail end of the day, and it all evens out, no questions asked, no fuss. I don’t even have to schedule it in advance.
…But if I’m going to take an entire day off and just work it off in extra hours other days, that has to be discussed beforehand. Likewise if I’m gonna come in an hour or more late. It’s usually granted just fine, but they have to make sure it’s not a really bad time to be doing it.
