Producer GrandCruu Releases Sensational Project “CRUUSADES”

Interview with Producer GrandCruu: Debut Project “CRUUSADES” Out Now!

“As the sound of a bottle pop introduces the exotic rich quality of his smooth composition of bass and melody, 21 year old Producer/Engineer GrandCruu based outside of Boston, Massachusetts has a mission to keep his hometown’s rep as the “City of Champions” alive. Brockton is a city approximately 25 miles south of Boston and is known as the city where retired American professional boxers Rocky Marciano (World Heavyweight Champion from September 23, 1952, to April 27, 1956) & Marvin Hagler (Undisputed World Middleweight Champion from 1980 to 1987) both resided. Growing up in a strict home Cruu was always kept indoors and was introduced to the piano at the age of 6. At the age of 9, he learned to produce & compose his own music through Magix Studio & Fruity Loops Studio. Inspired by the greats such as J-Dilla, Kanye West & Timbaland, Cruu found a way to take an outlandish characteristic of each and pursue his own modern yet foreign sound.”

Last night, Rare Norm was able to catch up with Producer GrandCruu and ask some very important questions about his music and life. For GrandCruu, it’s more than just the music. Check out the interview below!

Q: How long have you been making music? What were your inspirations for creating this project?

My dad had me taking piano lessons at 6 years old. I had a private instructor and a in-store instructor at “Central Music”. My uncle used to make beats on Magix studio and FL studio 3. I was always listening to his stuff and i had my first computer since i was 4, my dad being a computer technician so i was able to get my first 2 software around 9 years old.

CRUUSADES as a whole can tell you or paint a sonic picture about my life from basically 2012 to 2015. The vibes take you to a place where even if you don’t know the stories or the different struggles, being a man or being a human you can associate the vibrations with similar feelings you have experienced and almost capture the scenery, whether its the drive to sell drugs, or the feeling of deprivation or the feeling of lusting before you love. All these emotions are displayed in the tape.

Q: How long was the process? Who were the people involved?

I first announced CRUUSADES dropping in September. The goals was to have it pieced and ready to go by November but unfortunately the struggle or CRUUSADES were still out to get me and i had to go through a numerous obstacles to make sure I had every piece I have now, Initially it was going to be a collaborative tape with a bunch of peoples that are really dope out here such as Avenue, Deon Chase, PROD (who is an up and coming singer), MYTH, City Boy Dee, Latrell James and I had verses from 2 major artists that I had to my disposal but i decided after all that I just wanted to give people pure emotion and just let the beats speak for me. S/o to Silas , to Jeff Stately , to PROD , to OG Mark , and shout out my big bro The Human Torch 80. If 80 had not given me the College Dropout albums back in the day I’d probably have different sound right now.

Q:Using just 5-10 adjectives, how would you describe your music/ sound?

Q: Besides the music, what/ how would you like to contribute to your community/ society?

Coming where I come from, a lot of what I do is motivated by the idea of changing or remolding the community. In a city where there is a dark aura or cloud that seems to never go away, I want to be able to give back to the community especially in the arts. I’m actually working on getting some grants and some investors to help me put together an arts center for music, dance and paint. I feel like the kids need a place to explore and expand their talents after school rather than being influenced at home by what is going on in the houses or in the streets

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years? (career, music, touring, shows, etc.)

Music is all I love, but I don’t want to be too deep in the industry. The music I make is out of love and if I can live a life that I love in music with an average income touring with the bro Jeff Stately then that’s cool. If things turn up a little then that’s cool too. Ultimately if I can make the income, I would love to travel a lot and focus on missionary work and just build back in 3rd world countries. I’ve always been a giver and if this music can get me there, then I will try my best to be where i need to for that

Q: Where can the people find you?

Well I’m currently re-branding for CRUUSADES and the drop of Stately’s “Dover Street” but you can find me on
