U.S. President Barack Obama speaks about the sequester after a meeting with congressional leaders at the White House in Washington March 1, 2013. President Obama Joins Facebook

Social media has become an important part of our daily lives. It used to daily to share ideas and important issues in the news.

Today, President Barack Obama has joined Facebook. His  first message to the Facebook world reads:

“Hello, Facebook! I finally got my very own page. I hope you’ll think of this as a place where we can have real conversations about the most important issues facing our country – a place where you can hear directly from me, and share your own thoughts and stories,” — President Obama

There is no time like the present for The President of The United States to join the largest social media platform. The Millennials, born between 1980 and 2000, are the largest group of internet users, as well as the largest group of the US population. 3 out of 4 adults in the US have an active social media account. Hopefully this can start a trend of political conversation in a way that involves the young generation in politics.

President Obama’s Facebook page is complete with important dates through his political career. He has also added some photos from his childhood through adulthood. Check them out here!

Welcome to Facebook President Obama!
