The Rare Norm a few months ago Share Tweet Pin Share I’ve been in the interview process for a new job, which was going very well (I accepted the position today). At the same time, I had a client at my current job that was having issues with his production site, something that I was aware of but didn’t need or want to handle right then. I almost didn’t take the call, thinking it was the client. It ended up being the CTO of the place I just got hired at, wanting to set up an informal meeting that day where he would end up making me the offer. While going through this process I’ve had to accept 3 calls from unknown numbers (not even in our local area code) in order to speak with the CTO, head of HR, and lead developer. Super stressful and I would have loved to be able to send them to voicemail. During dinner tonight my wife asked why I had so many contacts on my phone. I explained that I’m careful to add clients’ info to my phone when the call so the next time I know I should avoid the call (they’re not supposed to call except in emergencies, yet they do). It’s a good approach that has saved me hundreds of unwanted calls.
