Gaming 7 months ago Share Tweet Pin Share The next big update for Minecraft, Update Aquatic, will be the last content package for older consoles. Once Update Aquatic hits, Minecraft on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, and Wii U are essentially done, and will no longer receive future updates. Minecraft “Although we’d love to keep bringing new content to all our players forever, the older generation of consoles now make up less than five per cent of our active players,” said Microsoft in a new blog post. Instead, focus for Minecraft development will shift to versions of the game on Java, PS4, Bedrock Edition consoles like Switch and Xbox One, Mobile, and Windows 10. The Aquatic Update adds new ocean biomes and water-based gameplay and tools. Minecraft players on the Xbox One and compatible platforms will get the update through the Bedrock. This is the case with the Switch version too, but the Switch still has yet to receive the Bedrock update. The PS4 will get a separate release as the version of Minecraft on the Sony platform doesn’t support the cross-platform features of the Bedrock. If you’re still waiting for Minecraft Bedrock on Switch, you can check out a 30 minute demo of it here. This article may contain links to online retail stores.
