Stalker 2 Teased in New Website, Release Scheduled for 2021

Stalker 2 Teased in New Website, Release Scheduled for 2021

Stalker 2 (stylized as S.T.A.L.K.E.R.) is finally happening according to a mysterious teaser website that started appearing today. Stalker 2 was originally announced in 2010, but was cancelled several times. Now it appears to have a 2021 release year.

The link to the Stalker 2 website was shared by developer GSC Game World owner Sergiy Grygorovych on Facebook. Not to be confused with Sergey Galyonkin, who started SteamSpy and is publishing strategy director at Epic Games. Although, Galyonkin joking asked a follower to “guess what engine it’s running on,” which might mean it could be on Unreal.

Stalker 2 is the sequel to the 2007 cult hit Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, a first-person survival horror game loosely based on the 1979 Andrei Tarkovsky film Stalker. GSC Game World released two more Stalker games before announcing Stalker 2 in 2010. Unfortunately those games, published by THQ, went through phases of development and cancellation.

With that in mind, the news of Stalker 2’s revival might have some fans to take pause. The 2021 release year is also three years away, which might mean the game might still early in development.

Nevertheless, Stalker built a strong cult following for its graphics, gameplay, and horror elements. Since then, Stalker has remained a popular game among FPS and horror fans, and news of a sequel is surely a cause for excitement.

If we do see more of Stalker 2, it might be at E3 2018. You can check our full E3 2018 guide for the complete schedule of press conferences.
