There has been an influx of drone news this past week and it hasn’t been because they turned on the human race, but for the fact that drone racing has now become a recognized sport.

The Drone Racing League is a professional league that will bring together the best pilots from around the world to compete in six competitions throughout the year. Pilots are given custom-made drones that can fly at speeds exceeding 80 miles per hour.

A team led by a 15-year-old British teenager has scooped up $250,000 after winning in a major drone-racing tournament this weekend.
